Chapter 5: Find Mentors Who are Vital to Your Success!
Mentors are vital to your Success. Where do we find mentors? How many do we need? And how long should we stay in touch with mentors? Napoleon Hill is perhaps one of the best known motivational mentors in the industry. With his passing, he left an abundance of wisdom in his book Think and Grow Rich, which is still being published today. This is a starting point for achievement. Get your hands on the book, or a book CD. Read or listen religiously. I play my CD, THINK AND GROW RICH: INSTANT MOTIVATOR at night before I go to sleep. This is mentoring from the past which reaches into the present like wisdom notes left by a very wise grandfather.
There are many mentors who have written books and created programs upon which we rely daily. Some icons in the industry are: Wayne Dyer, Jack Canfield and Bob Proctor. You can find their work in bookstores around the world. They offer rich wisdom for your personal application. Are these mentors personally accessible to you? In most cases NO.
How and where can you find personal life mentors to assist you in reaching your objective(s)? Most social networking sites offer incredible networking opportunities with like-minded individuals who can assist you, or who can help find someone who can assist you. Your mentor(s) must be outstanding in their fields of endeavor--offering only the best of advice for you to follow on a regular basis. If you do join a networking site like Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, etc., be sure you keep in mind the reason you joined--TO NETWORK FOR YOUR SUCCESS. It is so easy to fritter away an entire day on social networks.
Other opportunities to find mentors exist in community groups, churches, learning institutions, businesses and more. Offer to apprentice with a professional in the field/industry in which you plan your success. This is a sure way to learn from the best at close range. Napoleon Hill and many of our modern motivational icons got their start this way.
How many mentors do you need? As many as it takes, but not enough to cause confusion--REMEMBER you have to FOCUS! Build a "Mastermind Group" as Napoleon Hill did, bringing the best minds and best advice for success together. This might include a few mentors living and a few icons from the past who've left their wisdom in books. Your OBJECTIVE is the FOCUS in the center of that circle, NOT THEIR PROGRAM.
